The Power of Loyalty

The Power of Loyalty. Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV) states, “A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

What does it really mean to be loyal? What is a loyal person? A loyal person is someone who sticks with you, even when it’s hard. Sometimes when you are in a difficult position, someone who is loyal will stick with you regardless of what state of mind you’re in. They will be there to hold up your hand and encourage you. To me that is the power of loyalty.

If you are a loyal friend, don’t give up on the friendship. Some people say hey we’ve been friends for 20 years, but as soon as something happens, they walk away from the friendship; that’s not loyalty. The power of loyalty also means you must have a stick with it attitude. “I am sticking with you no matter what!”

Everyone is meant to be a loyal person. Of course, some people want to be with you for the moment until they can get what they want from you. You have no control over that. But I must say to you all, we do have control over the kind of people we allow into our lives. We have to make up our mind and say, “I’m going to be the kind of friend that doesn’t give up on my friends…period.

If you are the kind of friend who isn’t going to give up on someone, that’s the kind of people you will eventually end up with. God will reward your faithfulness. He knows what it’s like to be a loyal friend. After all, He has stayed close to you every day of your life and doesn’t plan to ever leave you. When people walk away, God is with you, He will always be a friend. He’s the most faithful and devoted friend you could ever have. He will never leave you or forsake you, no matter what you go through, what situation you’re in or what mistakes you make in life; He sticks closer than a brother; that represents the power of loyalty!

If we truly want to learn how to really stick through situations and be a loyal friend, the best person to learn from is God. Look at what He went through, offering Jesus for our sins. Look at Jesus, He was loyal to us, even though we put the thorns on His head and crucified Him. He still went to the cross and said, “Father forgive them, they know not what they do.” He being faithful took on our burdens and sins, even though He was innocent. We can learn from Him and be truly loyal to our friends and family. Do not take the power of loyalty lightly!
